Wikipedia: The Target Of Muslim Anger

Posted by Atilla89 on February 5, 2008

Supposedly there are now a lot of Muslims who are angry at the information website for publishing *gasp* images of Mohammad on his information page. So now they have decided to ban together and demand that Wikipedia stop violating their religion and remove the offending images. They’ve gone about this with an online petition that’s already gathered 84103 signatures! Here’s the article in question and here is the online petition. Hat tip to LGF

Removal of the Pics of Muhammad from Wikipedia
Target: To tell wikipedia editors to respect other peoples religion
Sponsored by: Faraz AhmadIn Islam pictures or Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and other holly figures are not allowed, but on wikipedia they has published some pictures that are showing not only a body with white face but an image that has a complete face.. that is even not allowed by SHITAT fact of Islam. I request all my brothers and sisters to sign this petition so we can tell wikipedia to remove them.

However, Wikipedia have some backbone and said:

Please note that discussion on this talk page has determined that pictures of Muhammad will not be removed from this article and any removal of the pictures without discussion here first will be reverted on sight.

The Democratic Debate In California: What Really Happened

Posted by Atilla89 on February 2, 2008

A funny version of the Democratic Debate in California. Hat tip to LGF, you can see the original here.

Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama sat down to discuss their differences at the Democratic Debate in California this evening, but each ended up coming off as if they actually agreed with the other! *Gasp!* Can it be true? Is political love in the air, or is it all a ruse to put off the bloodthirsty press? You be the judge.

And Now For Something Completely Different…

Posted by Atilla89 on January 28, 2008

Star Wars has always played a big part in my life. From when I first saw the films, to reading the books a few years later, I’ve always enjoyed story of action, adventure and love. To clarify, Star Wars is by no means a religion to me, nor do I consider myself the true number 1 fan, however these guys here, are definitely a contender for that. Hat tip to The Jawa Report.

A Jedi “church” has been born in a galaxy far far away – North Wales.

The Holyhead chapter of the self-styled Jedi Church, which claims up to 400,000 members worldwide, has sprung up thanks to brothers Barney and Daniel Jones, both Star Wars obsessives.

The “church” is only one of a handful around the planet, said hairdresser Barney, 26, the Anglesey Order Minister, also known as Master Jonba Hehol.

Jedi Church
The force: Barney Jones 26, aka Jonba Hehol, and his brother Daniel Jones, 21, aka Morda Hehol, have formed the first Jedi ‘church’ – in Holyhead

“Some people think it will be quite interesting but lots of people will ridicule us because it seems quite nerdy but we’ve had a good reaction so far,” he said. “We think of it as proper lifestyle enhancement and it should be taken seriously – it can’t be bad if it makes life better. “We live normal day-to-day lives. “We are trying to take away the humour of it all and bring more structure so people take it more seriously.” The “religion” was born as a result of a nationwide joke in the 2001 census when nearly 400,000 claimed their belief system was Jedi.

And now Barney and musician Daniel, 21 – or Master Morda Hehol, self-appointed UK “church” leader – are getting their new “religion” off the ground.

“It’s serious,” said Barney. “We will have teachings based on Yoda – the 900-year-old grand master – as well as readings, essays submitted, meditation and relaxation, visualisation and discuss healthy eating. “The Jedi religion is about life improvement, inner peace and changing your lifestyle so you have a more fulfilling existence. “It’s based on the films but we have brought things into it because the films are a bit more sci-fi.

The 2nd Annual Worst Quotes From The Daily Kos (2007 Edition)

Posted by Atilla89 on December 5, 2007

I am sure that everyone reading this would know about the blog, Daily Kos; for those that don’t it is a left wing blog in America and is argueably the most influential. Just to underscore this point, “Democratic members of Congress post on the blog, Democratic presidential contenders cater to them, and Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas is considered to be a mainstream figure amongst Democrats. Keep all of that in mind as you read these excerpts and quotes, all of which come from the Daily Kos writers, not from commenters on the blog.” Well, LGF has got a post by John Hawkins that shows the very worst of Daily Kos, here’s a few, now go read the rest, enjoy!

10) “I wrote a diary a short time ago about how the Bush administration helped ruin my marriage. It wasn’t because my husband was a Bush supporter or anything…it was because of all the stresses from job loses, living without health insurance and getting sick, to my husband being forced to take a job where he wasn’t home much that helped ruin my marriage.” — angrybird

9) Islamic Countries Can Suck Jesus’s Chocolate Covered C***…Meanwhile, over here in this part of never, never land, the Catholic crazies are all freaked out over a chocolate Jesus. So what????????

I just don’t get it. I’m being literal. I don’t understand what’s offensive about a chocolate Jesus. Maybe I didn’t read the part of the Bible that talks about not making graven images of the Lord in chocolate (and it’s possible, since the Bible has so many other things that are institutionally nuts I wouldn’t rule it out). Why does anyone care that it’s in chocolate?

…The other part of this so-called chocolate Jesus controversy is his c*ck. Apparently he has one. Someone hide the children. It turns out humans have d*cks. No, you don’t say.

My guess is that if Jesus actually existed he would get a good belly laugh out of people being offended that he had a penis. Yeah, don’t worry about feeding the poor or anything. Just obsess over Jesus’s chocolate covered penis. I’m sure that’s what the good Lord would have wanted.

So, is the argument that Jesus didn’t have a d*ck?” — Cenk Uygur

8) “I know I’m a Jewish lesbian and (Ahmadinejad would) probably have me killed. But still, the guy speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon…Okay, I admit it. Part of it is that he just looks cuddly. Possibly cuddly enough to turn me straight. I think he kind of looks like Kermit the Frog. Sort of. With smaller eyes. But that’s not all…

I want to be very clear. There are certainly many things about Ahmadinejad that I abhor — locking up dissidents, executing of gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy. Even still, I can’t help but be turned on by his frank rhetoric calling out the horrors of the Bush Administration and, for that matter, generations of US foreign policy preceding.” — sallykohn

I would just like add that I wish Alex Horton good luck as he has now left the U.S. Army (and Iraq). His blog, Army of Dude, is pretty much a soldiers account of the war in Iraq, it is very good and I really recommend reading it.

Australian Election Day 2007

Posted by Atilla89 on November 24, 2007

So today I started work as an ‘Poll Official’ which basically means I was collecting everyone’s vote in a hospital. I encountered stroke victims, people who were old and going senile, other old people who could neither read nor write and were deaf at the same time (fun…not). I had fun, but that was only because I was getting some $300 for the day (yay). I’m pretty exhausted because it was a 13-14 hour day. Having said that it is a Saturday night so I am still going out. I will post a few entries on the election but that will come tomorrow, but basically Labor won; Me: goes and kills a few Labor supporters (jokes), the good news is that my representative kept his seat and he is Liberal, yay! Expect more posts bagging out Labor and their policies in the future. Tomorrow I start a new job working at a bar which should be better then my current job, as a vendor in a sports stadium, and on Monday I have my first series of tests to join the Australian Army Reserves. So pretty much there will be more posts and updates to come.

Just For Fun: Al Jazeera Cursing Match

Posted by Atilla89 on November 11, 2007

Funny video that I found on LGF where two Arab commentators, one a Sheik and the other a liberal author, who is from Syria (I think) are debating on the issue of Islam and Western culture. It basically ends up into a funny insulting match. Unfortunately I can’t post the actual video as it does not exist in a YouTube or Google Video format but if you click on the LGF link you should get to it. The video is also available on MEMRI.

I especially found lines like this (from the liberal author) to be especially funny “How did you come here from Egypt in 2 hours? On camels it used to take you over 6 months to make the pilgrimage.” Unfortunately they liberal guy doesn’t know his facts that well otherwise he would be able to rip into the Sheik with his lies about casualties in Iraq and whatnot. However towards the end it does get rather funny

Happy Halloween!

Posted by Atilla89 on November 1, 2007

Even though I don’t even celebrate it, I may as well say to everyone who does. Any this is a little post about the origins of Halloween. Personally I always thought it was just an American tradition, but its something much more older then that. You can find the posted information here.

See Explanation. Clicking on the picture will download the highest resolution version available.

Halloween and the Ghost Head Nebula

Credit: Mohammad Heydari-Malayeri (Observatoire de Paris) et al., ESA, NASA

Explanation: Halloween’s origin is ancient and astronomical. Since the fifth century BC, Halloween has been celebrated as a cross-quarter day, a day halfway between an equinox (equal day / equal night) and a solstice (minimum day / maximum night in the northern hemisphere). With our modern calendar, however, the real cross-quarter day will occur next week. Another cross-quarter day is Groundhog’s Day. Halloween’s modern celebration retains historic roots in dressing to scare away the spirits of the dead. Perhaps a fitting modern tribute to this ancient holiday is the above-pictured Ghost Head Nebula taken with the Hubble Space Telescope. Appearing similar to the icon of a fictional ghost, NGC 2080 is actually a star forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way Galaxy. The Ghost Head Nebula spans about 50 light-years and is shown in representative colors.

Posted by Atilla89 on October 30, 2007

For all of those who have done Paint ball, and I know a fair few who have, only you would understand the amount of pain that this guy is in. And also how brilliant this shot is. Hat tip from Tim Blair. All I have to say is BOOM HEADSHOT!

Poll: Bullshit is most important issue for 2008 voters

Posted by Atilla89 on October 20, 2007

This video from The Onion (a satirical news site) is pretty damn funny and this video is no exception, it called Poll: Bullshit is most important issue for 2008 voters (they are referring to the U.S. Election). Anyway, according to them the most bullshit person in the running for president is Hilliary Clinton, a person who is “Not just talking bullshit but living the bullshit”

X-Wing Fighter Rocket Launch

Posted by Atilla89 on October 8, 2007

Awesomely cool footage of a T-65 Income X-Wing (yes I am a very big Star Wars nerd) be launched and then subsequently destroyed mid flight. As Youtuber, BigBobster777 says:

” 1 600 lb. X- Wing $1500
4 Redline motors $1000
500 man hours to build $5000

A sunset launch in the desert……priceless”
