Possible Uranium Deal With Russia and India

Posted by Atilla89 on August 19, 2007

Australia has loads of uranium and the excavation of this uranium along with the resources found in Western Australia is helping the resource boom. However Australia have decided to sell some of the uranium to Russia and India. I have no problem with it going to India because they are a democracy. As well as this, Dr Robert Ayson, a nuclear proliferation expert from the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, said “India would not be helping out countries like Iran…India is a fairly great power, it’s the world’s largest democracy, it’s a burgeoning economy, it’s going to play a major role in Australia’s future,” he said. “…To keep pretending that India should not be regarded as a member of the nuclear club is really quite silly.”

However I am not happy with the stuff going to Russia because Putin is thinking about starting the cold war back up again and is an authoritarian leader. As well as this, I don’t believe their reactors are good, think back to 1986 – Chernobyl.
